Sales Representative

Reports to: Sales and Marketing Manager

General Summary

Sell top quality pest management services at productive rates within competitive considerations. Support customer service with high quality interface. Fully utilize Sales and Marketing Plan.

Basic Qualifications - Required

  • Strong outside business-to-business sales experience preferred, but not essential.
  • College degree, a plus.
  • Must be persuasive, persistent, and be a good listener.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Willingness to travel by air to conduct business in different locations.
  • Ability to follow Company policies and procedures.

Marketing Interface

  • Conducts regular check-ins with Telemarketer to provides prospect updates and status changes (proposed, sold, dead, etc.).
  • Communicates regularly with Marketing on special projects, prospect lists, reports, direct mail.

Planning and Prospecting

  • Develop strong personal selling plan; develops command of assigned sales territory.
  • Uses Sales and Marketing Plan daily (prospects, time and territory management, cloverleaf territory regularly).
  • Generates new sales opportunities; asks for referrals; maintains good balance and volume of prospects.
  • Networks; participates in at least one outside organization.
  • Explores sales opportunities through co-workers (i.e. Technicians, CSRs, Managers).
  • Maintains required quantity of personal prospect calls to target markets and accounts; makes good use of time. Plans well.
  • Completes prospect research prior to developing pre-sales strategy.

Written Communications and Reporting

  • Uses CRM system to maintain high quality/quantity of daily, weekly, monthly activity; keeps accurate records.
  • Maintains prospect database and top 25 accounts with notes.
  • Writes proposals differentiating core service offerings from competition; presents compelling reasons to use our services.
  • Communicates effectively through email, CSA, proposals, letters and internal communications (i.e. new account fact sheets, PestPac/ACT notes, tree maps, Outlook, Buzz newsletter).

Account Management

  • Ensures smooth sales to service transition; follows-up on service after sale.
  • Completes key customer and price increase assignments on time, with required results. Assists service as required in other cases.

Sales

  • Meets / exceeds sales budgets consistently, in all categories.
  • Creates programs to fit needs, budgets, expectations; understands tiered/flex services.
  • Understands and maintains profitability model; explores service and selling trends; researches similar accounts for comparison; does not sell by discounting or matching price.
  • Follows-up with prospects in a timely manner with high achievement; punctual with customers and co-workers.
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of competition and impact on sales process.
  • Responds quickly and completely to Copesan requests for proposals, needs analysis, sales leads, when applicable.

Customer Relations *

  • Communicates with caring, polite personality; gets along well with others; strong interpersonal skills.
  • Uses good judgment in decision-making.
  • Goes the extra mile for customers, co-workers and the public at large; closes the loop.
  • Exhibits strong customer relationship skills; keeps welcome of new customers and retention of existing customer as a continuous high priority.
  • Projects professional image to customers; represents Company well in all matters.

Technical *

  • Sufficient knowledge of pest behavior, biology, controls, regulations, and other technical requirements of job.
  • Uses information technology, industry technology, pest control technology, and general business technology at a satisfactory level.
  • Meets safety standards for pesticide use, vehicles, and general workplace.
  • Produces high quality of work; skill level instills confidence of co-workers and customers.

Productivity *

  • Makes productive use of time at work; puts in satisfactory amount of work hours.
  • Meets commitments, completes assignments on time.
  • Manages projects efficiently and timely; thinks creatively.
  • Maintains good attendance; punctual.
  • Communicates with home office as needed; responds to requests.
  • Takes on extra assignments as required.
