All About Milford, CT

Milford is a coastal city in New Haven County, located between New Haven and Bridgeport. This area was occupied by indigenous peoples for thousands of years. At the time of English encounter, it was territory of the Paugusset (an Algonquian-speaking tribe). English colonists affiliated with the contemporary New Haven Colony purchased land which today comprises Milford, Orange, and West Haven on February 1, 1639, from Ansantawae, chief of the local Paugusset. They knew the area as Wepawaug, named for the small river which runs through the town. Later the settlers named streets in both Milford and Orange as Wepawaug. The same settlers built a grist mill by the Wepawaug River in 1640, to take advantage of its waterpower. During the Revolutionary War, the Milford section of the Boston Post Road, a vital route connecting Boston, New York, and other major coastal cities, was blockaded by Continental forces, and Fort Trumbull was constructed to protect the town. The site of the blockade is commemorated by the Liberty Rock monument.

It’s no secret that Milford has a rich history but it’s also a tourist destination. Visit the family-owned farm market and garden, Robert Treat Farm for fresh fruits and veggies and an authentic, quaint experience. Have a devilishly good time with a Spirits of Milford Walk. They promise not to lose you in the Milford cemetery. At least, they promise to try. If you do make it out unscathed, reward yourself for being incredibly brave with a dinner at Bridge House Restaurant. With creative dishes like the Maine lobster diavolo bar pie and corned beef cottage pie, you can go back again and again and try something new! Year round, people flock to Milford to enjoy everything it has to offer, but unfortunately, so do pests. While these bugs and rodents provide benefits to the eco-system in Milford, they can also be a serious problem at homes and businesses. That’s when a professional pest control expert should be called in.

As the Constitution State, Connecticut is known for having everything from beaches to cities to forests. Milford is no exception. Warm, moist summers give way to cold winters, which means over-wintering insects, rodents, and other small wildlife need to find warm places to wait out the cold. The local extermination experts at our Milford, CT branch are used to dealing with mice, carpenter ants, bed bugs, termites, mosquitoes, ticks – and even the occasional cheeky raccoon or hiding bat. No matter the season, your pest control service needs will be taken care of by a local exterminator that knows the area and the pests that are common to it. In the summer, they know what that the ponds and birdbaths many people have around their homes can be exactly where mosquitoes like to breed. They know that the ticks that come out during the summer months can transmit Lyme disease so while nobody can help the wood areas around Eisenhower Park, they can help your backyard stay free from them. In the cooler months, they know mice can try to make their way into your garage – especially if that’s where you keep the 20 lb. bag of dog food! No matter what pest, any time of the year, our pest control treatments in Milford can help, including:
