Q: What’s your name?
A: Hope Bowman

Q: And what is your official title at Waltham Pest Services?
A: Training, Technical & Quality Manager

Q: What are your responsibilities?
A: I am at Waltham to provide for our customers, making sure the technicians and inspectors have the best training to be prepared to serve our customers for their needs. I keep up to date on any new products or services that would help make our customer’s solutions even better and incorporate that within our programs. Along with our Managers and Service Managers, I work to make sure the quality our customers receive is consistent between branches and between each of our team members.

Q: What year did you start working at Waltham?
A: I began working at Waltham in February of 2019 when I moved back home to New England.

Q: How many years have you been working in this industry?
A: I have been working in the Industry for 16 years.

Q: What relevant positions did you hold before Waltham?
A: Before Waltham, I was a Technical Specialist / Entomologist at Western Pest Services in the mid-Atlantic. I was based in Philadelphia/Southern New Jersey for the majority of my time and also added New York City the last three years. The experience I gained in the urban environments of Philadelphia and New York are key to helping to solve problems in Boston, Hartford, Worcester, and surrounding areas.

Q: What is your education background?
A: I studied Biology as an undergrad and Entomology in graduate school.

Q: Do you have any relevant certifications or specialties?
A: I am a Board Certified Entomologist (BCE), a certification from the Entomological Society of America.

Q: Have you received any relevant awards?
A: I received the Women of Excellence award while at Western Pest Services.

Q: Are there any interesting projects you’ve worked on that you’d like to include?
A: Recently, we had a potential customer that had American cockroaches in a kitchen and bathroom that shared a common wall. It seemed like each morning the staff would find many dead cockroaches. Since American cockroaches typically originate from the sewer, I inspected all of the sink drains, floor drains, and areas around the plumbing. Based on process of elimination, I suspected there was a break in a sewer line under one of the toilets and suggested a plumber be hired to scope the drains. My suspicions were confirmed and once the sewer line was repaired, no further treatments were needed.
