Wasp Control in Your Home

Stings are a thing of the past in your backyard.

How we GET RID OF wasps around your home

It’s important to understand the kind of stinging pest you may be dealing with. For example, you don’t want to treat or hurt honeybees in any way – and neither do we. Wasps are less aggressive than hornets and yellow jackets but if they feel threatened, they can and will sting. They can certainly make for unpleasant outdoor areas. If you or someone in your family is allergic, it’s better to bring in a professional and just have the wasps dealt with before something happens. Wasp nests are even covered under our GreenSuite™ for Home.

What do wasps eat

It depends on the kind of wasp you have. Paper wasps eat nectar and other insects including caterpillars and flies. Cicada killer larvae feed on cicadas and other insects. Adult cicada killers will feed on flower nectar, fermented sap from trees, and other large plants in their habitat. Adult mud daubers feed on plant nectar, honeydew, and body fluids from the spiders they capture. Some species of mud dauber even feed on dangerous black widow spiders.

How to keep wasps away

If you do have wasps, it’s because you have a nice spot for mud daubers to build their nest. Typical mud dauber nest locations include sheltered sites under eaves, porch ceilings, open garages or sheds, barns, protected building walls, and attics. If you have any of these and you have spiders around, mud daubers will be attracted to the area. The only way to keep them away is to make your yard less attractive to them.

Do wasps sting

Wasp stings can be painful and cause a reaction ranging from hives to breathing trouble. The good news is that many wasps only sting when they feel threatened.

How long do wasps live

The lifecycle of a wasp depends on the species, but in general a worker wasps life can last from 12-22 days, while a queen can live up to a year.

What is a wasp
