All About Coventry, RI

Coventry is a town in Kent County. Coventry was first settled by English colonists in the early 18th century, when the town was part of Warwick. Since the area was so far away from the center of Warwick, the section that became Coventry grew very slowly. However, by 1741, enough farmers (about 100 families) had settled in the area that they petitioned the General Assembly of Rhode Island to create their own town. The petition was granted, and the new town was named “Coventry” after the English city of the same name. For the rest of the 18th century, Coventry remained a rural town populated by farmers. Among the buildings that survive are the Waterman Tavern (1740s), the Nathanael Greene Homestead (1770), and the Paine Homestead (late 17th century/early 18th century). The oldest church, Maple Root Baptist Church, dates from the end of the 18th century. The congregation was organized in 1762 and was affiliated with the General Six-Principle Baptists.

It’s no secret that Coventry has a rich history but it’s also a tourist destination. Definitely take a tour of the Nathanael Greene Homestead. Do a wine tasting at Leyden Farm Vineyard & Winery. Make sure your camera is charged when you visit the architecturally stunning Rhode Island State House. For dinner, we suggest the comfortable Black Oak Kitchen & Drinks. Start with the bacon ranch tots and the pineapple pulled pork tacos. Year round, people flock to Coventry to enjoy everything it has to offer, but unfortunately, so do pests. While these bugs and rodents provide benefits to the eco-system in Coventry, they can also be a serious problem at homes and businesses. That’s when a professional pest control expert should be called in.

Pest control services near you

Properly controlling pests in Coventry, RI should be done on a local level. Coventry’s pest issues are different than Vermont’s and way different than Cape Cod’s. The pest control company you choose should have knowledge and expertise in your town. That’s Waltham Pest Services. We have been servicing Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, Maine, Vermont, and Rhode Island for 130 years. That kind of expertise is unmatched in the industry. And with a branch located in nearby Pawtucket, our technicians, customer services representatives, and everyone else that works at that location lives and works in the area, too. Our neighbors are your neighbors, and we treat them that way.
As the Ocean State, Rhode Island is known for having everything from beaches to cities to forests. Coventry is no exception. Warm, moist summers give way to cold winters, which means over-wintering insects, rodents, and other small wildlife need to find warm places to wait out the cold. The local extermination experts at our Pawtucket, RI branch are used to dealing with mice, carpenter ants, bed bugs, termites, mosquitoes, ticks – and even the occasional cheeky raccoon or hiding bat. No matter the season, your pest control service needs will be taken care of by a local exterminator that knows the area and the pests that are common to it. In the summer, they know what that the ponds and birdbaths many people have around their homes can be exactly where mosquitoes like to breed. They know that the ticks that come out during the summer months can transmit Lyme disease so while nobody can help the wood areas around Sandy Acres Recreation Area, they can help your backyard stay free from them. In the cooler months, they know mice can try to make their way into your garage – especially if that’s where you keep the 20 lb. bag of dog food! No matter what pest, any time of the year, our pest control treatments in Coventry can help, including:
