Flies

Flying insects are known to carry disease-causing organisms and have been implicated as vectors of Listeria, Salmonella, and E-coli.

Fruitfly Fruit flies feed on fermenting food stuffs and are best controlled by eliminating these breeding materials.
Blowfly Blow flies develop in meat waste and in decaying rodent and animal bodies sometimes found in attics, walls, or chimneys
Mothfly Moth flies, or drain flies, breed in the accumulated matter on the interiors of drainpipes, garbage containers, and septic tanks.
Housefly Adult house flies feed on liquefied organic matter and are a significant health concern.
Clusterfly Cluster flies are larger and slower than house flies and usually enter buildings in the fall, clustering in attics or other high areas.

Corrective Action

Fly control starts with an inspection, inside and out

Our technicians will:

  • identify the type of fly
  • identify the breeding areas
  • pinpoint locations of fly access to your premises
  • advise you of conditions contributing to fly activity
  • explain steps you can take to discourage flies
  • recommend sanitation and structural changes

Our corrective action tools may include some or all of the following:

  • interior and exterior residual insecticide treatment
  • light traps to attract and eliminate adult fliers
  • drain service and bioremediation
  • fly baits

Our Fly control Program, part of our Green Theme, eliminates flies while ensuring the safekeeping of your property. Our holistic approach balances safety and efficacy with prudent pesticide application, bioremediation, and sanitation and structural recommendations.

What you can do

Outdoor fly breeding sites include:

  • rubbish compactors
  • dumpsters
  • nearby areas of stagnant water

Indoor breeding sites include:

  • floor drains
  • standing organic matter

Discourage infestations by:

  • keeping doors closed and screens in good repair
  • practicing good housekeeping and sanitation practices
