Helping Veterans Stay Connected

Giving back to the communities they serve has always been an important part of the culture at Waltham Pest Services, and the team in Westford, Massachusetts, has found a meaningful way to make a heroic impact on local veterans. The Westford branch proudly serves as a drop-off location for Cell Phones for Soldiers, making it easy for employees, customers, and community members to donate old cell phones that can help support veterans across the country.

The initiative is possible thanks in large part to Joseph Scott, whose relationship with the organization’s organizers and passion for serving others helped bring the partnership to the Westford office. His commitment to giving back has created an opportunity for the entire branch to support a cause that has a lasting impact on the lives of those who have served our nation. Our veterans show up with courage, purpose, and grit. They protect others, put their needs ahead of their own, do whatever it takes to get the job done, and act with bravery in tough situations. These are all virtues that the team at Waltham strives to emulate, so helping veterans out as much as they can is one of their top priorities.

For many veterans, the most difficult battle begins after they return home. Feelings of isolation and disconnection can make the transition to civilian life especially challenging. Something as common as a cell phone can become an essential tool for rebuilding those connections with family, friends, and support networks.

Most of us rarely think twice about having a phone within reach. But imagine not being able to call a loved one during a difficult moment or reach out when you need support the most. That simple connection can make all the difference. Cell Phones for Soldiers believes that connection isn’t a luxury – it’s a lifeline. By providing phones and communication resources to veterans, the organization helps ensure they have access to the relationships and support systems that are so critical to their well-being.

The team at the Westford branch wanted to be a part of the solution. The process is simple but incredibly effective. Community members can drop off unwanted cell phones at their branch, where the phones are collected until the donation box is full. Once it’s ready, the phones are shipped to Cell Phones for Soldiers, and a new collection box is sent to the branch so the cycle can begin again. Every full box represents another chance to help veterans reconnect with the people who matter most.

The Westford team is honored to play a small role in that mission. Through the generosity of employees and members of the community, each donated phone helps create new opportunities for veterans to stay connected, feel supported, and know they are not alone. Putting others first, relying on one another, and moving forward as one is important to the team at Waltham – because you can’t be your best self by yourself. And this charity is a reminder that even something as simple as an old cell phone can have a powerful impact on someone’s life.
