All about Monroe, CT

Monroe is a town located in eastern Fairfield County. Monroe is largely considered a bedroom community of New York City, New Haven, and Bridgeport. On May 15, 1656, the Court of the Colony of Connecticut in Hartford affirmed that the town of Stratford included all the territory 12 miles inland from Long Island Sound, between the Housatonic River and the Fairfield town line, to include the southern portion of present-day Monroe. In 1662, Stratford selectmen Lt. Joseph Judson, Captain Joseph Hawley, and John Minor secured all the written deeds of transfer from the Golden Hill Paugussett Indian Nation for this vast territory that comprises the present-day towns of Trumbull, Shelton, and Monroe. In 1671, Stratford purchased from the Paugusset Indians the territory which included the remainder of the northern portions of Monroe, Trumbull, and Shelton, in what is known as “The White Hills Purchase,” and officially annexed it to the Township of Stratford. Monroe incorporated as a town in 1823. The community is named after James Monroe, fifth President of the United States.

It’s no secret that Monroe has a rich history but it’s also a tourist destination. Visit the many beautiful parks that Monroe is lucky to have. From hiking to tennis to some good old-fashioned swings, you can find it in Monroe! Be sure to stop in to Warren Antiques for some truly unique and beautiful souvenirs. After all that, sit down for some good food and drink (their words – we would use delicious!) at The Smith Restaurant where everything from the melt-in-your-mouth filet to the large salad bar is top notch. Year round, people flock to Monroe to enjoy everything it has to offer, but unfortunately, so do pests. While these bugs and rodents provide benefits to the eco-system in Monroe, they can also be a serious problem at homes and businesses. That’s when a professional pest control expert should be called in.

Properly controlling pests in Monroe, CT should be done on a local level. Monroe’s pest issues are different than Cape Cod’s and way different than Vermont’s. The pest control company you choose should have knowledge and expertise in your town. That’s Waltham Pest Services. We have been servicing Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, Maine, Vermont, and Rhode Island for 130 years. That kind of expertise is unmatched in the industry. As the Constitution State, Connecticut is known for having everything from beaches to cities to forests. Monroe is no exception. Warm, moist summers give way to cold winters, which means over-wintering insects, rodents, and other small wildlife need to find warm places to wait out the cold. The local extermination experts at our Milford, CT branch are used to dealing with mice, carpenter ants, bed bugs, termites, mosquitoes, ticks – and even the occasional cheeky raccoon or hiding bat. No matter the season, your pest control service needs will be taken care of by a local exterminator that knows the area and the pests that are common to it. In the summer, they know what that the ponds and birdbaths many people have around their homes can be exactly where mosquitoes like to breed. They know that the ticks that come out during the summer months can transmit Lyme disease so while nobody can help the wood areas around William E. Wolfe Park, they can help your backyard stay free from them. In the cooler months, they know mice can try to make their way into your garage – especially if that’s where you keep the 20 lb. bag of dog food! No matter what pest, any time of the year, our pest control treatments in Monroe can help, including:
