All About Naugatuck, CT

Naugatuck is a consolidated borough and town in New Haven County. The town spans both sides of the Naugatuck River just south of Waterbury and includes the communities of Union City on the east side of the river, which has its own post office, Straitsville on the southeast (along Route 63), and Millville on the west (along Rubber Avenue). Naugatuck was settled in 1701 as a farming community in rural western Connecticut. As the Industrial Revolution commenced, Naugatuck was transformed into a mill town like its neighbors in the Naugatuck River Valley. Rubber was the chief manufactured product. Charles Goodyear worked at his brother’s rubber company, the Goodyear Metallic Rubber Shoe Company & Downtown Naugatuck, until the company was consolidated into the United States Rubber Company. The United States Rubber Company (renamed Uniroyal Inc. in 1961) was founded in Naugatuck in 1892 as a consolidation of nine rubber companies and maintained their corporate headquarters there until the 1980s. Their footwear division manufactured Keds sneakers in Naugatuck from 1917 until the 1980s. U.S. Rubber also produced Naugahyde in a Naugatuck factory, but it is no longer produced there.

It’s no secret that Naugatuck has a rich history but it’s also a tourist destination. Featuring prairie style home décor, be sure to visit Patti’s Paintbrush Gallery and Gifts. You can find original art, signed American pottery, handmade jewelry, and even hand painted furniture. You’re sure to find a souvenir that you’ll be happy with long after you’ve left Naugatuck! Walk the trails, sit by the relaxing babbling brook, and be one with nature at Naugatuck State Forest. Then have some truly unique gastropub fare at 66 Church. Share the trash can nachos, the hot mess, and the chicken and waffles. Also the old faithful, bangin’ shrimp, and pulled pork mac and cheese. Also, the tacos! You know what, get what you want. It’s all good! Year round, people flock to Naugatuck to enjoy everything it has to offer, but unfortunately, so do pests. While these bugs and rodents provide benefits to the eco-system in Naugatuck, they can also be a serious problem at homes and businesses. That’s when a professional pest control expert should be called in.

Properly controlling pests in Naugatuck, CT should be done on a local level. Naugatuck’s pest issues are different than Cape Cod’s and way different than Vermont’s. The pest control company you choose should have knowledge and expertise in your town. That’s Waltham Pest Services. We have been servicing Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, Maine, Vermont, and Rhode Island for 130 years. That kind of expertise is unmatched in the industry. As the Constitution State, Connecticut is known for having everything from beaches to cities to forests. Naugatuck is no exception. Warm, moist summers give way to cold winters, which means over-wintering insects, rodents, and other small wildlife need to find warm places to wait out the cold. The local extermination experts at our Milford, CT branch are used to dealing with mice, carpenter ants, bed bugs, termites, mosquitoes, ticks – and even the occasional cheeky raccoon or hiding bat. No matter the season, your pest control service needs will be taken care of by a local exterminator that knows the area and the pests that are common to it. In the summer, they know what that the ponds and birdbaths many people have around their homes can be exactly where mosquitoes like to breed. They know that the ticks that come out during the summer months can transmit Lyme disease so while nobody can help the wood areas around Linden Park, they can help your backyard stay free from them. In the cooler months, they know mice can try to make their way into your garage – especially if that’s where you keep the 20 lb. bag of dog food! No matter what pest, any time of the year, our pest control treatments in Naugatuck can help, including:
