Pest control in Mystic, CT

Set in New London County, Mystic is a village and census-designated place in Groton and Stonington. Historically, Mystic was a significant Connecticut seaport with more than 600 ships built over 135 years starting in 1784. Mystic Seaport, one of the largest maritime museums in the United States, has preserved a number of sailing ships, such as the whaling ship Charles W. Morgan. The village is located on the Mystic River, which flows into Fishers Island Sound and by extension Long Island Sound and the Atlantic Ocean. The Mystic River Bascule Bridge crosses the river in the center of the village. The name “Mystic” is derived from the Pequot term “missi-tuk” describing a large river whose waters are driven into waves by tides or wind.

Before the 17th century, the Pequot people lived in this portion of southeastern Connecticut. They were in control of a considerable amount of territory, extending toward the Pawcatuck River to the east and the Connecticut River to the west. To the northwest, the Five Nations of the Iroquois dominated the land linked by the Great Lakes and the Hudson River, allowing trading to occur between the Iroquois and the Dutch. The Pequots were settled just distant enough to be secure from any danger that the Iroquois posed. The Pequot War profoundly affected the Mystic area between 1636 and 1638. In May 1637, captains John Underhill and John Mason led a mission through Narragansett land, along with their allies the Narragansetts and Mohegans, and struck the Pequot Indian settlement in Mystic in the event which came to be known as the Mystic massacre. On September 21, 1638, the colonists signed the Treaty of Hartford, officially ending the Pequot War.

It’s no secret that Mystic has a rich history but it’s also a tourist destination. Of course, you cannot miss the Mystic Seaport. With everything from shops to a planetarium, it does not disappoint! The grownups in your group will enjoy a cabaret influenced, mash-up of drama, mystery, and seductive art of dance at the Mystic Darkroom. You will feel like you’ve entered a “speakeasy” as a private member. And, of course, seas the day at the Mystic Aquarium where you can get upclose and personal with animals like seals, African penguins, and even rays! For lunch, we suggest the well-known, Mystic Pizza. Made famous by the 80s movie with the same name, Mystic Pizza is not to be missed. Who would have thought clams would be amazing on a pizza? We guess they did – because they are! For dinner, indulge at S&P Oyster Restaurant and Bar. With beautiful views of the waterfront, you can enjoy fresh seafood like Seafood a la Parilla, which includes a wood grilled, whole rock crab, half a lobster, colossal shrimp, little neck clams, oysters, mussels, and street corn. Mouths watering! Year round, people flock to Mystic to enjoy everything it has to offer, but unfortunately, so do pests. While these bugs and rodents provide benefits to the eco-system in Mystic, they can also be a serious problem at homes and businesses. That’s when a professional pest control expert should be called in.

As the Constitution State, Connecticut is known for having everything from beaches to cities to forests. Mystic is no exception. Warm, moist summers give way to cold winters, which means over-wintering insects, rodents, and other small wildlife need to find warm places to wait out the cold. The local extermination experts at our New London, CT branch are used to dealing with mice, carpenter ants, bed bugs, termites, mosquitoes, ticks – and even the occasional cheeky raccoon or hiding bat. No matter the season, your pest control service needs will be taken care of by a local exterminator that knows the area and the pests that are common to it. In the summer, they know what that the ponds and birdbaths many people have around their homes can be exactly where mosquitoes like to breed. They know that the ticks that come out during the summer months can transmit Lyme disease so while nobody can help the trails around Williams Beach Park, they can help your backyard stay free from them. In the cooler months, they know mice can try to make their way into your garage – especially if that’s where you keep the 20 lb. bag of dog food!
