Pest control in New London, CT

New London is a coastal city in New London County. Located at the mouth of the Thames River in New London County, it is a port of entry on the northeast coast. It was one of the world’s three busiest whaling ports for several decades beginning in the early 19th century, along with Nantucket and New Bedford, Massachusetts. The wealth that whaling brought into the city furnished the capital to fund much of the city’s present architecture. The city subsequently became home to other shipping and manufacturing industries, but it has gradually lost most of its industrial heart. The area was called Nameaug by the Pequot Indians. John Winthrop, Jr. founded the first English settlement here in 1646, making it about the 13th town settled in Connecticut. Inhabitants informally referred to it as Nameaug or as Pequot after the tribe. In the 1650s, the colonists wanted to give the town the official name of London after London, England, but the Connecticut General Assembly wanted to name it Faire Harbour. The citizens protested, declaring that they would prefer it to be called Nameaug if it could not be officially named London. The legislature relented, and the town was officially named New London on March 10, 1658.

It’s no secret that New London has a rich history but it’s also a tourist destination. Understand and trace the town’s port history at the Custom House Maritime Museum. Nearby, 1800s Fort Trumbull overlooks the Thames River. The collection at Lyman Allyn Art Museum includes maritime paintings and a celebration of the arts of America from colonial times through the 20th century. Playwright Eugene O’Neill spent his boyhood summers at Monte Cristo Cottage, now a museum. South of the 1801 New London Harbor Light, Ocean Beach Park has a beach on Long Island Sound with rides. After a long day, though, relax at On the Waterfront Restaurant & Bar. You can’t beat the local oysters but the lobster tacos come close! Year round, people flock to New London to enjoy everything it has to offer, but unfortunately, so do pests. While these bugs and rodents provide benefits to the eco-system in New London, they can also be a serious problem at homes and businesses. That’s when a professional pest control expert should be called in.

As the Constitution State, Connecticut is known for having everything from beaches to cities to forests. New London is no exception. Warm, moist summers give way to cold winters, which means over-wintering insects, rodents, and other small wildlife need to find warm places to wait out the cold. The local extermination experts at our New London, CT branch are used to dealing with mice, carpenter ants, bed bugs, termites, mosquitoes, ticks – and even the occasional cheeky raccoon or hiding bat. No matter the season, your pest control service needs will be taken care of by a local exterminator that knows the area and the pests that are common to it. In the summer, they know what that the ponds and birdbaths many people have around their homes can be exactly where mosquitoes like to breed. They know that the ticks that come out during the summer months can transmit Lyme disease so while nobody can help the trails around Toby May Park, they can help your backyard stay free from them. In the cooler months, they know mice can try to make their way into your garage – especially if that’s where you keep the 20 lb. bag of dog food! No matter what pest, any time of the year, our pest control treatments in New London can help, including:
