All About East Providence, RI

East Providence city in Providence County and the fifth largest city in the state. East Providence has 23 locations on the national register of historical places. That includes Little Neck Cemetery, a historical and cultural resource of much importance. It contains the gravestones of people who have played an important part in the history of East Providence and other American societies. The oldest recorded burial is that of John Brown, Jr. (who died 1662), son of the man who purchased Wannamoisett from the Wampanoag Indians. The gravestone of Elizabeth Tilley Howland (died 1687) is also there. Howland was a passenger on the Mayflower ship and was one of the original settlers of the Plymouth Colony. She died at the Swansea, Massachusetts farm of her daughter and son-in-law and was buried near there at Little Neck. Today her grave is marked by a finely carved slate marker put up in 1946 by the Howland Family Association.

It’s no secret that East Providence has a rich history but it’s also a tourist destination. Take a romantic boat ride that will rival being in Venice, Italy itself on the La Gondola. Visit the Farm Fresh Farmer’s Market – a year-round market with local farm and food vendors. For dinner stop at Davenport’s Restaurant for stuffies, seafood chowder, and a classic Reuben sandwich. Don’t forget to ask for the weekly microbrews! Year round, people flock to East Providence to enjoy everything it has to offer, but unfortunately, so do pests. While these bugs and rodents provide benefits to the eco-system in East Providence, they can also be a serious problem at homes and businesses. That’s when a professional pest control expert should be called in.

Properly controlling pests in East Providence, RI should be done on a local level. East Providence’s pest issues are different than Vermont’s and way different than Cape Cod’s. The pest control company you choose should have knowledge and expertise in your town. That’s Waltham Pest Services. We have been servicing Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, Maine, Vermont, and Rhode Island for 130 years. That kind of expertise is unmatched in the industry. As the Ocean State, Rhode Island is known for having everything from beaches to cities to forests. East Providence is no exception. Warm, moist summers give way to cold winters, which means over-wintering insects, rodents, and other small wildlife need to find warm places to wait out the cold. The local extermination experts at our Pawtucket, RI branch are used to dealing with mice, carpenter ants, bed bugs, termites, mosquitoes, ticks – and even the occasional cheeky raccoon or hiding bat. No matter the season, your pest control service needs will be taken care of by a local exterminator that knows the area and the pests that are common to it. In the summer, they know what that the ponds and birdbaths many people have around their homes can be exactly where mosquitoes like to breed. They know that the ticks that come out during the summer months can transmit Lyme disease so while nobody can help the wood areas around Crescent Park, they can help your backyard stay free from them. In the cooler months, they know mice can try to make their way into your garage – especially if that’s where you keep the 20 lb. bag of dog food! No matter what pest, any time of the year, our pest control treatments in East Providence can help, including:
