We Love Our Team (and They Love Us)

At Waltham Pest Services we like to say our team is like our family and that we feel more like a community than a company. And there’s no greater testament to that fact than just how long our team stays with us. People staying with a company 5, even 10 years is increasingly rare these days. It also speaks columns about the company they are working if they want to leave so quickly. But at Waltham, our teammates STAY. Every month an email goes out celebrating even one-year anniversaries, but it also includes 5, 10, 15, 20, and even 40-year anniversaries! In this fast-paced world of constant turnover, Waltham is proud to celebrate being a place our team loves to come to every day.

We make sure to celebrate all our teammates every day, but to call out a few wasn’t easy. They all play an active role in shaping the success and longevity Waltham Pest Services has enjoyed for 130+ years. But Paul Hoffman, Erik Jenson, Gary Miller, and Mark Enos have been with us so long that it was a no-brainer to highlight them. Their experience brings unmatched institutional knowledge. They understand not only how things are done, but why they are done that way, often serving as mentors to newer employees. Their guidance helps bridge the gap between past and present, ensuring consistency while supporting innovation.

Paul is a Service Manager out of our Pembroke branch and recently celebrated his 40-year anniversary with us. We asked his Branch Manager, Tim Smith about that, and he said what we were all probably thinking, “When I first learned Paul was approaching his 40-year work anniversary, I was in awe. That’s not just a milestone, it’s a legacy. At this point, Paul has forgotten more about pest control than most of us will ever know.” Too true! His many years of experience means Paul has not only extensive knowledge, but he’s probably seen it all and knows what to do immediately. You would think that would make him bored, but Tim says it hasn’t. He noted, “his passion for the work is as strong as ever. It shows in his dedication to his team and his pursuit of excellence in servicing our customers. His work ethic is second to none, and he is admired by everyone here at our Pembroke office.” Paul is truly remarkable. But he’s not alone.

Erik is also a Service Manager out of the Pembroke branch and has been with Waltham for 21 years. Paul may have some years on him, but Tim Smith had great things to say about Erik, too. He said, “Erik is an integral part of our team here in Pembroke. His loyalty, dedication, and commitment make a lasting impact on both his team and our culture at Waltham Pest Services.” He’s not only well-liked, but he is also incredibly capable. Tim noted that he recently “led his team through the onboarding of a major account in our Cape Cod area. Despite the many complexities involved in the initial services, Erik’s planning and leadership ensured a seamless execution. This is exactly the kind of leadership we should all strive for.” It is indeed. But Pembroke isn’t alone in long-standing team members.

Our Wilmington branch has a Service Technician, Gary Miller, that has been with Waltham Pest Services for over 27 years. Phil Seymour, Branch Manager told us Gary is “the consummate professional.” You’d have to be to stay with the same company for so long. His extensive experience makes him the go-to technician at the branch. Phil went to far as to say, “He epitomizes customer service and takes care of many of our high-end pharmaceutical accounts.” That makes total sense! His accounts probably feel so comfortable knowing that not only a veteran technician is coming – but the same one every time. That kind of loyalty speaks volumes to our customers and to our own company. Phil went on to say that Gary “has been a loyal and outstanding employee that Waltham and Rollins are fortunate to have as a team member. I have been lucky to work with him for the past 27 years.” Yes. Phil has also been with us for 27 years. No wonder we had a difficult time picking just a few people to highlight!

Our Westford branch can’t be left out! It also has a Service Technician, Mark Enos who’s been with Waltham for 22 years. When you can start recording your years of service in decades, it comes with a certain amount of respect. Steven Arnold, Branch Manager, said: “What can I say? Mark Enos is truly a team player. He makes a heroic impact every day and is essential together with his teammates and his customers.” The other employees at the branch are lucky to have Mark. His experience and longevity mean the Westford branch has someone they can all turn to for the answers.

The loyalty of Paul, Erik, Gary, and Mark – and everyone else that has been and stayed with us – reflects a strong workplace culture built on trust, respect, and opportunity. People who stay and grow with a company for so long mean they like to come to work every day. And that means, we have created and maintained an environment where people feel valued and supported. We’re extremely proud to say that and we don’t see it changing any time soon.
